Weeknote #28
Woof, what a week! We had two camps this week, and a bunch of work. I worked all three of my jobs this week, so it felt like a lot of running around with not a lot of rest. Did I let that stop me, no!
I’m feeling that three part-time positions might be too many, which is good that I may be starting a new job soon. I feel bad about having people training me for something I’m not actually going to use, but I do like learning and the knowledge will make me a better employee, and a better person. I just don’t want to make anybody feel like I am wasting their time. Also having a different schedule each week is not my favorite. Why do we do that to people? Also why do we do that to teenagers? When your a teen and in high school you have enough stress, but we add to that a job that has no weekly consistency, and pays not very well. If I was going to redo high school I would want a consistent schedule. As an employer I would love for my employees to have a consistent schedule as well. I bet there would be less missed shifts as well.
Since the rest of the family was gone on Father’s Day, we did a remake of it today. We went to The Big Crafty in the morning, which was great. So much nice art that I can’t afford! I bumped into several folks who I used to work with at the climbing gym and learned some awesome news: the climbing gym is closing! I am sad that it’s closing, but glad that it went the way I thought it would. The owners do not know how to run a business and retain good employees. They made bad desicions from the start, and were so narrow minded and stubborn that it was doomed to fail. At one point it was up for sale, and I really hoped that it would sell and I could retain my position as GM so I could see it succeed. But now nobody will get to see it succeed because it’s not going to be a climbing gym after the sale. Makes it feel like they can’t let somebody else run it. I don’t know the reason why it’s not going to be a climbing gym, I’m just making a guess absed on what I know about the owners. I’m very curious what it will turn into.
After The Big Crafty we went swimming where we met some friends. Unfortunately I forgot my bathing suit so I was unable to swim. I did go to REI to see if I could purchase one, but the cheapest bathing suit was about $70! No thanks. After that we went and got some frozen yogurt with our friends which was a nice way to end the day. It was a nice Father’s Day, even if it wasn’t on the actual day.
Until next time, good luck out there!
